The air is crisp, the surroundings are bursting with colour, and the evenings are growing darker. Gradually, we swapped the cooler and lighter garments for warmer and heavier alternatives. It is important not to act hastily but instead carefully evaluate your wardrobe and determine which garments can be resold and which ones need to be replaced. This can include everything from a new key garment to a new colour that adds a little extra to the rest of the outfit. With that in mind, we have listed five must-haves to add to your autumnal wardrobe.

The Shirt

We begin with a true wardrobe hero: the shirt. The shirt is probably one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own because it can be dressed up or down. If you already have a collection of basic shirts in your wardrobe, we would like to highlight this indigo-dyed twill shirt from Stenströms (premium line 1899). The light blue colour pairs well with black, blue, brown, and beige. In this look, we have given the shirt a more formal touch by adding a tie in a deeper shade of blue, which harmonizes seamlessly with the rest of the outfit. For a more relaxed style, you can skip the tie and instead wear a knitted sweater over the shirt. On chilly days, you can add several layers of clothing for extra warmth. The shirt is simply a garment you cannot be without.

The jacket

A jacket that combines both style and function is a rare treasure. Italy’s Aspesi seems to have considered every detail when it comes to these very features. This is an updated model of the original M65 army jacket. The jacket is distinguished by its stylish design – whilst also keeping you dry and warm when the autumn weather sets in. For those who already own a coat or down vest, we believe that the field jacket can be the next addition to your collection. The field jacket is a versatile garment that can be used over several seasons and is therefore worth the investment. Here we chose to combine the jacket with a black knitted polo shirt, cream white painter trousers and black boots. However, the field jacket can just as well be matched with jeans or chinos – the choice is entirely up to you.

The Blazer

The blazer is a reliable choice that can almost instantly elevate any outfit. In this look, we have chosen to focus on a club blazer in a smooth wool quality from Oscar Jacobson. The club blazer is in a traditional dark blue and is decorated with metal details, both plain and embellished with monograms. Opinions about the club blazer tend to be divided; often it is associated with more formal contexts such as cocktail nights or club parties. The club blazer is just as great for everyday use. It is versatile in that it can be both dressed up and casual. According to the classic interpretation, combine it with a shirt and a club-striped tie. We chose a striped cotton shirt, a pair of wider-fit blue jeans and a cap with an emblem - in pure Ivy League spirit.

The Overshirt

Now let us talk about a garment that has become a first choice in many people's wardrobes - namely the overshirt. This garment is worth investing in thanks to its versatility. Just like the jacket above, the overshirt can be used all year round. During sunny autumn days, the garment functions as a jacket. When temperatures drop, the overshirt is perfect indoors. In this outfit, we chose to work with a striped shirt and corduroy trousers in shades of blue to create a stylish and well-dressed look. The variation in design on the overshirt is vast, from different models and materials to different colours. Choose an overshirt that suits your personal style and preferences.

The Knitted Sweater

The knitted sweater is a piece of clothing that should not be underestimated. The knitted sweater keeps you warm when it is at its coldest outside. If you already have the classic crew neck pullover, we recommend a knitted cotton sweater with an elegant turtleneck from NN07. The collar adds finesse and instantly elevates the style level. For a dressier look, consider wearing a shirt under the sweater, similar to the look above. A belt can be worn to complete the style. If you prefer a more casual outfit, choose a white T-shirt and blue jeans instead. Simply put, there are many possibilities to explore with the knitted sweater.
